In 2014, I sat down next to Lauren Goodell at Microsoft.
We were young, ambitious, and hungry to prove ourselves.
There was a rivalry almost immediately.
There was also this feeling that one day, we would build something together.
We had no idea what.
We just knew sales wasn’t going to be the final destination for either of us.
Twelve years later, we’re finally doing it.
I’m SO excited to announce the launch of our new podcast:
Sales Was Just The Start.
Because for most of my career, the goal was pretty simple:
Hit quota.
Make money.
Keep climbing.
And listen, sales gave me all of that.
It also gave me something much bigger.
Sales taught me how to build relationships.
It gave me the courage and skill set to start a company.
It became a doorway into my faith, my inner work, and a completely different relationship w/ stress and depression.
It even shaped the way I learned to date, love, and build a life w/ another person.
The money mattered.
It just wasn’t the end point.
Sales was the dojo.
It exposed my fear, my need for approval, my relationship w/ rejection, and all the ways I tried to prove I was enough.
Then it gave me reps.
Reps in courage.
Reps in listening.
Reps in telling the truth.
Reps in staying connected when the conversation got uncomfortable.
That’s the conversation Lauren and I want to have.
How did sales prepare us to become founders, partners, leaders, and more conscious human beings?
What did the work unlock in us that we couldn’t see when we were only chasing the number?
And who did we become along the way?
Lauren and I have taken very different paths since Microsoft.
We’ve joined new companies, built businesses, raised capital, made plenty of mistakes, and learned a lot about who we are.
But one thing has stayed the same:
We care about the people underneath the performance.
The first episode drops in two weeks.

I’m stoked to finally bring this thing into the world.
And honestly, it feels like the beginning of the beginning of something we’ve been talking about for twelve years.
