Your weekly dose of Alluviance!
Knowing what to say in sales used to take years.
Now a rep can ask Claude and get a damn good discovery framework, account plan, objection handling, or follow-up email in 30 seconds.
I think that’s awesome, but...
It also means the floor is rising FAST.
Everyone has better access to the craft.
The standard for actually embodying it is about to get a whole lot higher.
You STILL have to know it.
You need to understand discovery.
You need to know how to communicate value, run a sales process, ask great questions, and earn commitment.
AI doesn’t give you permission to suck at sales.
If anything, the bar just went up.
Because now your buyer has access to the same information you do.
So what happens when everyone knows the “right” question to ask?
You find out who can actually ask it.
Who can sit in silence after the answer.
Who notices the buyer’s energy change halfway through a sentence and gets curious instead of racing to the next question.
Who can throw away the talk track when the conversation asks for something else.
That part cannot be copy/pasted.
I spent a lot of my early sales career obsessing over the words.
What do I say here?
How do I overcome this objection?
What’s the perfect next question?
And I still care deeply about those things.
Craft is one of the pillars of everything we do at Alluviance for a reason.
But the deeper I’ve gone, the more I’ve realized that two reps can ask the exact same question and create completely different experiences.
One feels transactional.
The other makes you want to tell the truth.
Same words.
Different human.
That gap is about to matter A LOT more.
Attunement.
Conviction.
Curiosity.
The ability to stay in your body when the conversation gets uncomfortable.
The courage to listen for what’s actually being said instead of mentally searching for your next move.
AI can help you prepare.
It can sharpen your craft.
Use the hell out of it.
Then close the laptop and do the part only you can do.
1. Featured LinkedIn Post:
"Live Like Alex - the bench version"
It took me a long time to be able to say this and actually mean it.
And tbh, I feel a little shy even writing it.
But lately I've realized how much I love my life.
