Weekly Alluviance #188: Stop turning uncertainty into an emergency

Your weekly dose of Alluviance!

High achievers are terrible at not knowing.

I’m writing this for myself.

Every real inflection point in my life has included a stretch where I had no f***ing clue what I was doing.

Career. Relationships. Spirituality.

Three years ago, I left a high-paying W2 to build a community blending sales training and inner work.

It sounded insane to almost everyone I told.

Some days, it sounded insane to me too.

I wanted certainty. A clean plan. Some sign from God that I hadn’t just blown up a great career to chase an idea nobody understood.

Instead, I got more questions.

And because I’m a high achiever, I treated those questions like a five-alarm fire.

Think harder.
Make another plan.
Talk to one more person.

Surely I could force the answer to show up.

(Shockingly, panicking didn’t make me clairvoyant.)

But some answers can’t be figured out ahead of time.

They have to be lived into.

Every major shift has asked me to spend some time in the hallway.

The old door is closed. The next one hasn’t opened. There’s nothing to achieve or optimize your way through.

Just a version of you that no longer fits...

And one you haven’t met yet.

That space can feel like being lost.

Sometimes, it’s where you’re being remade.

I still don’t know exactly what I’m meant to do with my life.

I love what I’m building. I feel called to it. And I’m still figuring it out.

Both can be true.

So if you’re between roles, relationships, seasons, or versions of yourself...

Chill the f*** out.

Don’t mistake the absence of an answer for the absence of a path.

Keep listening.
Keep moving.

Let the next step be enough.

P.S. You don’t need to see the whole road. Just take the step that’s actually in front of you.
