Weekly Alluviance #134: The Guide, Not The Sage

ree

Your weekly dose of Alluviance!

This past weekend, 25 people stepped into a room for our latest Arise immersion.

ree

“This was the best weekend of my life.”

That’s what someone told me as they left our immersion. I will never take that for granted. And it had me reflecting on what has gone so well at these events.

People don't come to our immersions to hear me give answers. They come to discover their own.

My role isn't to be the Sage on the Stage, the expert with a perfect script. It's to be the Guide on the Side.

The power of these weekends comes from the questions we ask, the intention we bring to answering them, and the space we create to share them.

We are unlocking a collective wisdom that is far more powerful than anything one person could say.

This is the exact same dynamic that separates good sellers from the true sales professionals.

The Sage on the Stage walks into a call needing to prove how much they know. They pitch features. They talk at the prospect. They feel the pressure to have all the right answers.

The Guide on the Side walks in with a completely different energy. They are present. They are curious. Their goal isn't to give a perfect answer, but to ask a powerful question that makes the prospect think.

They don't sell. They facilitate a breakthrough.

They co-create the solution with the prospect, making them the hero of the story.

So, I'll ask you the same question we explore all weekend:

In your next sales call, who are you going to be?

The Sage with all the answers? Or the Guide with the right questions?

P.S. We only have a very few spots for our last two immersions this year. If you're even remotely interested in joining us in Aspen or Austin, you need to book something with us today!

1. Featured LinkedIn Post:

"Commitment isn’t easy."

“Am I pressuring you… or are you just scared to commit?”I've had thousands of conversations...

2. Quote to fuel your Alluviance:

"If I had an hour to solve a problem and my life depended on the solution, I would spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask, for once I know the proper question, I could solve the problem in less than five minutes." – Albert Einstein
