Weekly Alluviance #57: Spicy takes & the missing link - the other half of sales mastery

YOUR WEEKLY DOSE OF ALLUVIANCE!

Trigger warning: I'm coming in hot off of an incredible Arise Immersion weekend (perhaps even our best ever) leading almost 70 sales professionals, and you all are going to be on the receiving end of it.

Many, perhaps even most of you, are putting yourself at a huge competitive disadvantage, and you don't even realize it.

And if I have to be the one to call you out on your sh!t and piss you off, so be it. I'm here for it, and I'm going to take a stand for future you on this one.

Sales is a two-sided game, and some of you don't even know what the other side is. Sure, you might be focused on improving your skillset, getting better at the tactics and strategies that help you close more, or maybe even investing in yourself to get better in sales. That's great, but that's only half the jam.

The inner game is the other side of the coin that too many of you are glossing over. Without improvement in the inner game, your sales capabilities are capped. (Of course without improving the art and craft of sales, you'd struggle also.) But I know from talking to 1000s of folks in sales over the years, that the inner game is not getting nearly enough attention.

You can have the best sales skills, but if you burn out, those skills are worthless. Same with:

  • if you lack conviction

  • if you are riddled with self-doubt

  • if you wake up in the morning feeling dread

  • if you have no clue why you're doing any of this

  • if you are stressed out over quotas and performance

Better sales skills won't help you with these things, but improving your inner game most definitely will.

This is where the magic of Arise happens: the combination of the two. This past weekend, we focused on both the art and craft of sales and the inner game. And we did it in a community of amazing humans who support each other. It was epic. You can read some of the comments on LinkedIn if your need more convincing.

We just announced that the next Arise Immersion is coming back to Austin, TX on May 3 - 5. If you think your inner game could use a boost or if you just want some more of my spicy takes, use this link to directly book time on my calendar 🔥🌶️

2. Featured LinkedIn Post:

"Time to step it up"

I’m gonna say this with love, but some of us need to step the f*** up.

I'm so tired of seeing people w/ so much potential playing small.

Here's what we need to do👇

3. Quote to fuel your Alluviance:

"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit." – Albert Schweitzer

Please don't overlook the other half of sales mastery. Working on the inner game is what sets the true sales professional apart from their peers.
