Weekly Alluviance #66: A Gift for You on My Birthday
Your weekly dose of Alluviance!
In some cultures, like the hobbits from Lord of the Rings, it is customary to give gifts to your guests on your birthday. As my 32nd birthday just passed, I am dedicating this edition of the newsletter as my gift to you.
A friend asked me: "Reflecting on the past 365 days, what was most meaningful to you?"
My response was pretty simple:
"𝐈 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐄."
It’s been a journey, and I believe this is all of our work to do in our lifetimes — to become more of ourselves and to shed all of the things society puts on us that don't belong.
Starting with that question from my friend, what has been most meaningful to you this past year?
But let’s take that one step further. When was a time or an experience from the last year where you felt FULLY ALIVE? When you felt fully in your essence? When you could describe to someone, “Yo!! That was the real me!”
For some of us, we may have to dig deep to find that time, but I know it’s there. Remember that experience in as much detail as you can:
What were you wearing?
What did you say?
How did you act?
How did other people experience you?
How did you experience yourself?! Now comes the challenge and the gift for you.
What can you do this week to bring back that experience of being fully YOU? It doesn’t have to be anything epic or groundbreaking, but it does have to bring you closer to your essence.
Will you commit to this small act now? If you really want to lock it in and make this a happy birthday for me, drop me a quick email response and say, “I’m committed to becoming more of myself this week!”
