Weekly Alluviance #18: Listening to Yourself
YOUR WEEKLY DOSE OF ALLUVIANCE!
If I were to ask you the question "Are you listening to yourself?", how would you respond?
Yes, trusting your gut and developing your intuition is important, but that's not necessarily what I mean.
Last night I had a powerful conversation with a close friend about connecting our minds to our heart and allowing our voices to flow from there. To be in greater relationship to both ourselves and the people around us, as well as the world that surrounds us.
So, I ask again: Are you actually listening to yourself? Are the words that are coming out of your mouth connected to your heart? Or are you just focused on saying the next thing to move the conversation forward and sound smart to your prospects, your friends, and your loved ones? Most sales professionals have this tendency, myself very much included.
But I'm challenging the status quo.
Imagine the impact of what you say when you are fully present and aligned with your own words. Imagine what it must be like as a prospect or partner, listening to a person whose every word carries significance. There's meaning in the words we say and therefore the actions that come from that.
This is the level of essence and excellence we strive for as sales professionals and Alluviant leaders. We're not just fully attentive and present to those we are speaking with; we are fully present to ourselves.
