Weekly Alluviance #40: The Lost Art of the Full Send
YOUR WEEKLY DOSE OF ALLUVIANCE!
Death and regrets are probably not the first topics you'd expect from a newsletter about sales. But then again, Alluviance newsletters aren't here to keep you comfortable.
I posted a cryptic message on LinkedIn that I've been thinking about one of the top 5 regrets of the dying. Many of you shared similar feelings about #4 on the list which was a sure sign for me to dig in:
"I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not to the life others expected of me"
To me, this is about choosing authenticity over expectation, and it's no straightforward task. Society, and sales in particular, is structured in a way that wants you to stay on the well-trodden path. The solace of this predictability is alluring and feels really safe. Nothing inherently wrong with this, but if it's out of alignment, it paves the way for the next inauthentic decision. This leads 2 things - exhaustion and boredom. Before you know it, the path is no longer your own.
What's the antidote, you ask?
Full send!
It's more than just a phrase you'll hear from the surfers in San Diego (shout out to my hometown). It's about commitment, wholeheartedly. It's about diving headfirst into whatever sets your soul ablaze, regardless of externalities. It means no half-measures, no second-guessing.
There's no room for half-hearted attempts.
When you have the courage and confidence to own your weird ass and funky self, you'll be walking the path of your higher self.
I have a question for you: When was the last time you stopped to think about the life you're leading? Is it a life you've chosen for yourself, or one built on the expectations of others?
If you don't like the answer to those questions, you're not alone. Many, including myself, have similar moments. But these moments of reflection only lead us to re-connect to what's TRULY possible.
I'm here to take a stand for that full send lifestyle for myself, for the entire Alluviance community, and for you.
