Weekly Alluviance #79: Are You Even Perfect Yet?
Your weekly dose of Alluviance!
This month, we've been focused on the topic of Nurturing a Culture of Continuous Learning with posts about failing with intention, leveraging FUN on the path to mastery, and upleveling your environment. We will continue with these themes for our newsletter with a new theme next month, but we're going to wrap up our continuous learning month with a banger.
With all of this talk about continuous learning and mastering the craft of sales, I have a silly but important question for you:
Are you even perfect yet?
We've given you 78 previous newsletters worth of content, podcasts, LinkedIn posts, and Instagram posts. With all of that information about how to uplevel your game as a sales professional and leader, you should certainly be perfect by now, right?
If you couldn't tell by my playful tone, of course you are not perfect. No one is. You are human. And humans are perfectly imperfect. We make mistakes all the time. I make mistakes all the time.
Here's the key reminder: it's ok to not be perfect. It's ok to make mistakes. It's ok to get angry or frustrated or upset. It's ok to fall back to an old pattern or a wounded part.
On the path of mastery and personal development, mistakes will be made. That is part of the process. That's how we get better. It's absolutely allowed to not be perfect even when we know better. If you said you were going to do something and didn't follow through, it's ok. If you made a rookie mistake that cost you a deal, it's ok. Zoom out a little bit and you'll see how far you have already come.
As we strive to embody all of the teachings we have learned, we will get things wrong. I'm here today to invite you to bring some more self-compassion so that you can continue to nurture your internal culture of mastery. Please consider the following: What is one thing that you've done recently that wasn't completely perfect, and can you bring some forgiveness and compassion to yourself as a human on your journey?
