Weekly Alluviance #75: The "Why" of Leadership
Your weekly dose of Alluviance!
Leadership is one of the core things we teach at Alluviance. We often dive deep into the what and the how of leadership as we did last week and in a few previous posts like: Leaders Go First & Preparation of the Essence Led Leader.
And still, we haven't discussed: Why Leadership? Why is leadership so important for the sales professional?
Let's start with an easy question: if you want to master the craft of sales, do you have to be a great leader?
Of course. Sales and leadership are intrinsically linked. To be great at sales, you need to lead your clients and prospects, lead your team, inspire others, have a compelling vision, develop the strategies and tactics to hit your goals, and on and on. You get the point.
Beyond sales mastery, I also want to highlight a critical component of leadership around the inner game.
When you step into your leadership, you are taking active control of your own life and shaping the world around you.
It's about being proactive, not reactive. It's about creating a vision for your future and taking deliberate steps to bring that vision to life. It's about being authentic and true to yourself, even when it's hard. It's about becoming the best version of yourself, and just by doing that, you naturally help others to do the same.
Our focus on leadership isn't just to help us make more money in sales or get promotions or win club trips. Those things are nice. Don't get me wrong. But it goes beyond that. We create the life we want. We discover our vision, and then we go out in the world and make it a reality.
This is the "why" behind our focus on leadership. For the sales professional, it means mastering the craft of sales and also helping to elevate the inner game. Leadership is the foundation of personal growth and transformation and helps unlock everything else you could hope to achieve in this lifetime.
